The 10th Africa Fintech Summit, taking place on November 2-3, 2023, will be held in Lusaka, Zambia.

The summit will unite investors, entrepreneurs, regulators and other stakeholders to pave the future of fintech throughout Africa and around the world.

Since it was launched in 2017, the Africa Fintech Summit has grown to become the top bi-annual summit of the fintech industry on the continent. The summit has previously been held in numerous cities throughout Africa, such as Lagos, Addis Ababa, Cairo, and Cape Town, attracting thousands from hundreds of countries across the globe.

The summit taking place in Lusaka in November, will feature the continent’s largest annual fintech exhibition, panel discussions, and keynote addresses and cover a series of industry topics, including blockchain usage, digital payments innovation, commodity supply chain, and fintech regulation.

Zambia has a fast-growing fintech ecosystem. According to a Ministry of Technology & Science report, mobile money penetration hit 69.4% in Zambia in 2020, a rise from 53.3% in 2015. Yet the report added there is significant room for growth and innovation within the country in terms of commerce and digital infrastructure. 

Minister of Technology & Science for Zambia, Felix C. Mutati, commented: “We are excited that the Africa Fintech Summit team has selected Lusaka, Zambia as the host of this November’s edition. This summit comes at an important moment in Zambia, where the Ministry of Technology & Science continues to work diligently to implement our national digital transformation strategy. The summit’s focus on the advancement of financial inclusion and sustainable economic development via the fintech industry will play a key role in driving digital transformation not only here in Zambia but across the African continent.” 

Whereas co-founder of the Africa Fintech Summit, Zekarias Amsalu, added: “We are thrilled to bring the 10th Africa Fintech Summit to Lusaka, Zambia. Zambia hosts substantial potential for the fintech industry and will continue to play an increasingly crucial role in an array of sectors across the global economy. Financial technology is actively being leveraged to support more sustainable mobility, more productive agriculture, more efficient cross-border trade, and more sustainable mining operations, just to name a few.
